Discovering the Truth of our Existence
Happiness Inc.
Happiness is a universal pursuit. The search for happiness motivates all our actions. It will be hard to find any living being who actively strives to be unhappy. And yet when we look around we do not find too many happy people! Could it be that we do not know how to pursue happiness? Or perhaps the very pursuit of it is counter-productive?
The door of true happiness is neither open nor closed. It “appears” open or closed when looked through the lens of likes and dislikes. What is the secret to happiness? Is there way to abiding happiness? Is happiness a skill that can be mastered? Or some are just born that way, with a sort of genetic set-point of happiness?
Once a man approached the Buddha and said, “I want happiness.”
Buddha replied, “First remove ‘I,’ that’s ego; then remove ‘want,’ that’s desire. See now you are left with only ‘Happiness!’”
Buddha paused, and then added, “But if you really want to be happy, make someone else happy.”
Moral of the story: You are the happiness that you are seeking: You are already home. Act for the good of others.
What is Truth? यह सच? या वो सच?
यह सच? या वो सच? Is this True? Or Was that True? In the Indian tradition, the philosopher-king Janaka of Videha is presented as a knower of the Self par excellence. In the great epic, Ramāyaṇa, he figures as the father of Sita-ji. In the Bhagavad Gītā (3.20), Sri...
Developing Right Orientation!

UN-COVERING AND DIS-COVERING!
UN-COVERING AND DIS-COVERING! The real teachings and the teacher of Self-Knowledge do not "give" us anything new or "add" to our knowledge in any way. They only remove the wrong notions we are having about our true nature. When the mistaken notions are removed, the...
SELF-KNOWLEDGE: PATH TO LIBERATION-1
SELF-KNOWLEDGE: PATH TO LIBERATION-1 Self-Knowledge means knowing the Truth of one’s own Real Nature (the Self). To know this truth, one does not have to acquire anything new. One has to re-cognize this Truth within oneself as the ever-exiting, ever-present Pure...
Butter, Black Pepper and Upset Stomach!
Learning at the Feet of the Master! Once upon a time, a farmer’s cow fell sick due to some stomach problem. His friends advised him to consult a doctor who used to prescribe natural remedies. The doctor advised the farmer to give the following preparation to the cow...
ALREADY, ALWAYS SO!
ALWAYS, ALREADY SO! Real spiritual teachings do not give us anything anew. They only make us aware of a fact that we are not currently aware of—a fact of always, already so. Yathārtha avabhōdhane̒—to cognize as such, as is, in our own experience the essential...
Awakening to our True Nature!
No Teacher can give you what you already are. No book, no teacher, no system, howsoever great, can give us what is within us and who we already are. This is the most fundamental point about Self-knowledge. If you want to learn about cooking, go read a book. If you...
REBIRTH FOR THE ILLUMINED ONES!
JÑĀNĪ AND REBIRTH It is said that a man of knowledge, jñānī, has no rebirth. How so? Because jñānī knows that there is no birth in the first place! The question of re-birth arises only if one accepts the fact of birth. The jñānī knows that in Me, the...
