The Consummation of Knowledge in Devotion:
ब्रह्मभूतः प्रसन्नात्मा न शोचति न काङ्क्षति ।
समः सर्वेषु भूतेषु मद्भक्तिं लभते पराम् ॥ १८– ५४ ॥
brahmabhūtaḥ prasannātmā na śocati na kāṅkṣati |
samaḥ sarveṣu bhūteṣu madbhaktiṁ labhate parām || 18- 54 ||
Having become one with the Brahman, the Absolute, and being cheerful in mind and tranquil in spirit, the knower of the Self no longer grieves or craves for anything. Treating all beings alike, the Brahmajñāni attains to my Supreme Devotion.
The Lord calls the devotion of the Brahmajñāni the Supreme Devotion (para-bhakti). This supreme devotion is the gift of Grace of the Lord. It is not the result of one’s effort. For how can limited efforts attain the limitless, the Supreme, devotion.
It has to be an act of Grace. This is the import.
